Protest Rights

Thomas Jefferson put it best: “Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.” In America, the government is accountable to the people and the people are entitled to have a vigorous and spirited exchange of ideas. Democracy is not always orderly. It is not always neat. It depends on the passionate engagement of citizens.

I am very proud to represent individuals and groups who participate in protest activities. Peaceful protesters challenge traditional structures of authority and change hearts and minds. Whether marriage equality, Occupy Oakland, or Black Lives Matter and the struggle for racial justice, my clients are making history.
